What in the world would keep a dead man’s body unburied after three months?! We’re not quite sure but the late actor Sherman Hemsley is still unburied after his death back in July.

Weeks later an autopsy revealed that Hemsley succumbed to a lung cancer diagnosis.

The problem lies with a man, Richard Thornton, claiming to be the brother of the late actor. Since Hemsley had no wife or kids a will, found one week after his death, contests that his $50,000 estate go to his “self-proclaimed” live-in business partner and best friend Flora Enchinton Berna, according to Fox News.

Autopsy Reveals Sherman Hemsley Died From Lung Cancer

Following a postmortem autopsy, it was discovered that beloved “The Jeffersons” actor Sherman Hemsley died from complications from a lung cancer diagnosis.

Hemsley who passed away on July 24th in his El Paso, TX home was advised to seek chemotherapy and radiation right before his untimely death. It isn’t clear however, if Hemsley had been a smoker.

The official cause of death is ‘superior vena cava syndrome’ – a complication resulting from a mass on Sherman’s lung, reports TMZ.

He was 74 years old.

Some very sad news today. Actor Sherman Hemsley, best known for his portrayal of George Jefferson on the 1970′s sitcom ‘The Jeffersons’, has died.

Hemsley died in his El Paso, Texas home of what appears to be natural causes. He was discovered by his nurse who initially believed he had been asleep. Once she realized something was wrong she called for help and discovered he has passed.

He was 74 years old. May he rest in peace.
