Over the weekend, there were several surprises at the annual Coachella Music Festival 2014 in California.
While Big Boi and Andre 3000 of Outkast reunited, performing together for the first time in seven years and celebrating 20 years in the music industry (See HERE), Beyonce surprised fans when she jumped on stage to join her sister, Solange Knowles, while performing single, “Losing You,” (See HERE).
But there was another big surprise ladies and gentlemen. Former nemesis, Jay Z and Nas performed together during Nas’ set, also celebrating 20 years since the release of his debut album, “Illmatic.”
Jay jumped on stage to perform “Dead Presidents II” followed by “Where I’m From.” Before ending his set, Nas was also joined by Diddy as well. Check out the surprise performances and Nas’ full set below.
Diddy is the new Prince. Remember when Prince changed his name to that symbol and no one knew what the heck to call him? Diddy wants to attain Prince’s status apparently.
Thirteen years after the change, the hip hop mogul has resorted to his moniker Puff Daddy. The move was made in conjunction to his “Big Homie” single trailer in anticipation for his forthcoming album release.
The mogul even shared his thoughts with his social media followers when he posted the below image and words….
Diddy is back to doing what he does best, making major business deals that is.
The music mogul has just bid $200 million for Fuse cable channel just five months after launching his music channel, Revolt TV (See HERE).
According to Eurweb.com, “The plan would be to convert the channel into his own Revolt TV, which would give his fledgling network wider distribution and higher subscriber fees, according to one of the sources.
Well, isn’t this the funniest thing! During a Ustream of an event Kevin Hart hosted Diddy let it slip that he and Usher use to sleep in the same bed. Diddy had a little help, of course, in the form of a good old fashion honest juice called alcohol! Hilarious!
Diddy says to Kevin Hart, “Come over here, don’t sit on the bed or nothing – no homo, just, don’t get close to the bed – don’t get close. Don’t get close, but it’s just like, we wanna thank you for hosting the thing, man. It’s been a pleasure, ya didn’t have to do it, and you did it.”
Kevin Hart responds, “No, I definitely didn’t have to do it…I definitely didn’t have to. Um…first and foremost, I’m not getting in the bed… Um shouts out to him, and what he did…”
Usher walks in, then Diddy says: “That’s my brother right here, from day one we used to wake up, and — I mean, damn, pause. But, like check this out…”
Kevin Hart starts laughing, from apparent surprise…This as Puff comes back from his pause, rambling about “wrestling” with Usher:
Diddy was involved in an unfortunate car accident Wednesday afternoon in LA. While driving his Cadillac Escalade down Sunset Blvd Diddy crashed into a Lexus sedan that turned left in front of his black SUV in front of the Beverly Hills Hotel on Sunset Blvd., police said.
Although his Cadillac Escalade was totaled, the music mogul, a bit battered and bruised, left the accident unscathed considering the magnitude of the wreck. The passenger of the sedan was also not injured.
On Thursday morning Diddy tweeted, “Woah…that was a close one! instagr.am/p/RNMmFxJl3K/”, with an attached photo of the wreck.
Considering the magnitude of the damage it’s great that no one was injured.
The couple have also been spotted more frequently in the last several months, from parties, to yatchs and even on vacay together. In fact its rumored they may be engaged after Cassie tweeted a photo of a massive diamond ring planted on her left hand.
Want to know who the top earning rappers of 2012 are? You’ll be surprised whose actually at the top of the list.
Who knew a pair of headphones would turn Dr.Dre into an even richer multi-million dollar mogul? What’s more surprising, the rapper/producer hasn’t put out an album since 1999. Some much needed advise from friend and music industry expert, Jimmy Iovine, steered the Hip Hop mogul away from investing in a new line of sneakers (so over done) and wahlah the introduction of “Beats By Dr. Dre”. The headphones which made Dre $100 million richer.
Diddy came in at no. 2 earning $45 million this year, mainly from his investment in Ciroc, the flavored vodka that’s now in high demand. Jay Z is no. 3, earning $38 million through his investment in cosmetic line ‘Carol’s Daughter’, part ownership of the New Jersey (now Brooklyn) Nets, and a partnership with Duracell as well as touring in support of latest album ‘Watch The Throne’. Mr. Kanye West comes in at no. 4 earning $35 million this past year form his ‘Watch the Throne’ collaborative album with Jay Z followed by the highly anticipated tour.
During a recent vacation in Capri, Hip Hop mogul Diddy and singer Cassie were spotted on his private yacht being pretty affection. The singer was even spotted sporting a massive diamond ring on her ring finger!
Did the two become engaged?!
Although never officially coming out as a couple, the pair have been rumored to have been dating since 2009.
Want more proof these two are really engaged? Check the photo Cassie posted via Instagram, a close up of the diamond sparkler.
We honor vintage Lil’ Kim today in the wake of her comeback, on the horizon, and to show fans and foes just why Kim was once the hottest female emcee in the game. No doubt when “No Time” made it’s debut, Kim was at the beginning of her rise and the success of the song suddenly made her one of the hottest commodities in Hip Hop.
It was 1996 when the single made it’s debut as well as Kim’s debut single off her first album, ‘Hardcore.’ It went on to peak at number 18 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached the Top 10 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. It also topped the US Rap Songs becoming Kim’s first number 1 hit on that chart. Here’s “No Time”.
You know this is a throwback because it was back when Diddy was still going as Puff Daddy before Puffy, before P. Diddy. Can’t believe it’s been nearly sixteen years!

For the generation that grew up with the original MTV Jams, Yo MTV Raps, Planet Groove and 106 and park hosted by AJ and Free, we miss music on television. There was a time when you didn’t have to Youtube the latest hit. You could actually turn on the television and within one program likely see the artist, an interview and the video premier.
Comcast, who took over NBC Universal, agreed to bring 10 new networks to it’s programming. Those networks are primarily owned and operated by minorities according to an article in the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The Hip-Hop mogul wears many hats but he is best known for founding one of the most influential Hip Hop labels, Bad Boy Records, in 1993. The label spawned the careers of the late Notorious B.I.G, Faith Evans, 112, and Total, just to name a few. He has not only won awards and accolades for his own contribution in music but he was also instrumental in spare heading the careers of Mary J. Blige, Lil’ Kim, and Usher among a long list of artists.
According to a Forbes review, his business sense has garnered him the richest figure in Hip Hop for 2011. He is worth an estimated $500 million.
Not bad for a kid born in a housing project in Harlem.
