Well, all good things must come to an end. BET has decided to throw in the towel with one time hit sitcom, “The Game.”
After being cancelled in 2006 by the CW Network, fans were shocked by the news. Many viewers were highly disappointed that the Sabers would have to say farewell to their fans. Luckily, BET revived The Game, in 2012, and has since produced 4 more seasons.
Unfortunately, the show has lost its steam as well as many of its viewers. _______READMORE
It’s unfortunate that this happened, but, how disheartening and distasteful was it of BET and ’106 & Park’ executives to have allowed such a bad joke to make it to the airwaves? If you don’t already know, Karrueche Tran co-hosted Monday’s episode of BET’s music countdown show, ’106 & Park,’ and made a distasteful joke regarding Jay Z and Beyonce‘s toddler daughter, Blue Ivy.
Although the toddler’s hair has been the topic of much discussion in the past for being seeming not well taken care of, no one could have expected a respected and well known black media outlet to stoop this low.
During a segment titled, “The Top 6 Things Blue Ivy Thought at the VMA’s,” while reading from a teleprompter Tran stated, “I really did wake up like this because my parents never comb my hair.”
The joke was also a reference to Beyonce’s single, “Flawless.” However, fans of the show and singer did not find it to be funny.
BET President Stephen Hill released this statement via Twitter on Tuesday. Hill stated, “Last night on 106 & Park there was a stupid, unthoughtful joke made about a young child. We apologize publically to the child’s parents (and have done so privately) and we have taken punitive actions with those responsible.”
According to their official site, “The network has made an exclusive deal with ABC to air new episodes of Scandal this fall. Each episode will air only on BET after its broadcast premiere. BET will also get fans up to speed for the season three premiere by airing the first two seasons all summer long.”
“We’re thrilled to be joining forces with ABC in airing this dynamic series,” said Debra Lee, Chairman of BET Networks. _______READMORE
BET has finally confirmed what we’ve already suspected. ’106 & Park’ co-hosts Paigion, Shorty Da Prince and Miss Mykiehave all been replaced by fashion designer Angela Simmons. Simmons joins remaining host and rapper, Mr. 106 himself, Bow Wow.
The network made the official announcement on Friday confirming the departure of the former hosts. The statement reads:
106 & PARK” is undergoing exciting changes. Angela Simmons will continue to guest host until the end of the summer. _______READMORE
As a result and perhaps fear of even more negative backlash and ridicule, BET has released this statement,
“BET Networks embraces global diversity in all its forms and seeks to maintain an inclusive workforce and a culture that values all perspectives and backgrounds. The incident with B. Scott was a singular one with a series of unfortunate miscommunications from both parties. We regret any unintentional offense to B. Scott and anyone within the LGBT community and we seek to continue embracing all gender expressions.”
Do you think BET’s statement is sufficient or just a poor attempt at issuing an apology?
Rocsi Diazmay have already found a new gig since leaving BET‘s “106 & Park”. The former BET host, tweeted the above photo, earlier in the week, of herself on the ‘Entertainment Tonight’ set. Could she be the newest addition to the long running entertainment news program?
Former ’106 & Prak” co-host Terrence J has already landed a full time gig over at E! on E! News after all? So, what about Rocsi?!
Rocsi has officially joined the ET team as the new correspondent of ‘Entertainment Tonight’. She’ll work alongside host Nancy O’Dell getting all the latest in entertainment.
Earlier tonight BET announced their new hosts for music countdown series ’106 & Park’. The four new host includes Mr. 106 himself rapper Bow Wow, Detroit radio personality Paigon, fellow Detroit native and aspiring rapper Shorty Da Prince, and another aspiring rapper from Houston, with lots of personality by the way, Miss Mykie My money is betting on Miss Mykie to be the breakout star of the foursome. Check out a brief intro from the new hosts.
In a Monday night special on BET, Chris Brown relived some of his defining moments, taking a trip down memory lane. If you missed it you can revisit the start of the singer’s career, some memorable moments and performances as well as his current album release ‘Fortune’, which hits stores today. Check it out.
I’m not sure what’s going on with BET but apparently everyone’s on the chopping block. Terrence J and Rocsi Diaz will no longer host the long running video countdown show, ’106 & Park’. Although no official announcement has been made, some recent reports suggest the duo will be leaving at the end of the current season.
Terrence and Rocsi are said to be venturing off in more television and film roles. While they may be grateful to have been apart of the BET family they’d like to take advantage of the opportunities that lay ahead.
