Recently it was announced that Blackground records has given the green light for a new Aaliyah album. An album long over due if you ask the die hard Aaliyah fans. In fact, rappers Drake, Missy Elliot and producer Timbaland have all been recruited so far to bring the album to life.

RIP Aaliyah (1979-2001): Gone But Never Forgotten

It’s hard to believe its been 10 years since the untimely death of singer, dancer, actress and model Aaliyah Dana Houghton. The humble singer, passed away at the tender age of 22, following a plane crash off the coast of Marsh Harbour, Abaco Islands after filming, what became her last music video, “Rock The Boat”.

Like most of you, I’ll never forget where I was when I got word Aaliyah had died. I was on a trip back from Canada where I spent the entire summer. My older cousin drove, maybe, 12 hours to get back to the states. Not long after hitting New York City she switched the radio station and a reporter came on with the devastating news. I was shocked to say the least, I even choked up a little on the verge of tears. I can only imagine, my reaction must be similar to many of yours. Although we, the fans, did not know her personally, she seemed so kind, so gentle, humble, angelic and so talented! Many girls imitated her style (baggy jeans, alter top, long bangs, sun glasses Lol) but she could and will never be duplicated. Like the song she’s one in a million. May your soul rest in peace.

Let’s  take a look back at some of her memorable songs and music videos.
