After rumors ‘American Idol’ producers were preparing to axe the entire panel of judges earlier today, we’ve just learned, Randy Jackson is leaving the show after 12 seasons!
Jackson confirmed the news when he released this message on his official Facebook page. Jackson wrote, “I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry. It’s been a life changing opportunity but I am looking forward to focusing on my company Dream Merchant 21 and other business ventures.”
Randy had been the last standing of the original judging panel since the show began nearly 11 years ago. The original line-up included creator Simon Cowell and Paula Adbul. Although Cowell left on his own accord to creator the X Factor US in 2010, Paula was let go after negotiations in her contract did not suit her needs back in 2009.
It’s official guys. Ryan Seacrest announced just this morning that Nicki Minaj, along with country singer Keith Urban, will join Mariah Carey and Randy Jackson as the two newest ‘American Idol’ judges.
The host posted this below photo and this message via Twitter, “It’s official, your new #IdolJudges are @MariahCarey, @NickiMinaj, @KeithUrban & @Yo_RandyJackson!”
Since the departure of judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler was announced this past Summer, Mariah Carey was announced as an immediate replacement. Although rumors swarmed that long time judge Randy Jackson was undecided, it was announced last week that yes he’d be back. As for Nicki and Keith Urban, although its been rumored for weeks the announcement today makes it official!
What are your thoughts, did Idol get it right this time? More importantly, will the two divas (Nicki and Mariah) get along or will Nicki theatrics distract from the show’s contestants.
Either way, ones things sure, we will certainly be watching! Will you?
