Big news in the tech world this week. Google has announced their partnership with Code School to help minority women learn the basics of coding.
Because only 17 % of Google employees are women, the company is taking advantage of the an opportunity to counteract the lack of diversity and women in the tech industry.
During Google’s I/O Conference, in San Francisco recently, they announced their initiative, on behalf of their Women Techmakers Program, to aid minority women in tech to learn coding.

Zendaya is out! From the Aaliyah Lifetime biopic that is. Although the singer, dancer and actress was chosen to play the late great singer a film adaptation she has chosen to no longer be apart of the film.
The reason? Another complication? The network and production team are having difficulty acquiring the rights to the singer’s music.
The news shouldn’t come as a surprise, however. Bow Wow has just announced his decision to retire his rap moniker and go by his birth and given name, Shad Moss.
Last week the rapper, actor, and television personality made the announcement via social media explaining:
“After BET awards i will no longer go by Bow Wow! Im going by my real name “Shad Moss” we made alot of history as bow wow. Now its time for the next chapter and challenge. Bow wow does not fit who i am today. Ima father, business man, TV host, Actor, and rapper! Time for MR Moss to take over!”

The annual BET Awards kicked off, Sunday night, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA. The show was hosted by the very funny comedian and actor Chris Rock and certainly did not disappoint.
The very talented Pharrell Williams opened the show, performing hit “Happy” and even surprised everyone by bringing out female emcee Missy Elliot.
Other highlights and performances includes, Chris Brown making a return to the stage post time behind bars, Nicki Minaj, Lil’ Wayne, Iggy Azalea and T.I., John Legend and Jhene Aiko performing together, Usher taking the stage to perform a medley of hits, Trey Songz and August Algina taking the stage together for the first time since ending their feud to perform “I Luv it.” The duo were also joined by crooner Chris Brown to perform the hit remix. And, last but not least, Lionel Richie achieving a Lifetime Achievement Award.

To the surprise of no one, Nicki Minaj won for the Best Female Hip Hop Artist, Sunday night, at the annual BET Awards show at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. In fact, the rapper has won the award for this category four years in a row. But, what was surprising was Nicki’s bizarre acceptance speech.
The rapstress threw some shade, although she insisted she wasn’t trying to, by stating that she writes all her own lyrics and wanted to “thank” BET for supporting authenticity or artists that are authentic. Many felt the jab was intended for Australian rapper, Iggy Azalea.
Minaj then went on to discuss her near death experience and not wanting to call an ambulance out of fear that she would be on popular breaking news celebrity site TMZ.

Celebrity news site, TMZ, caught up with TLC group member T-Boz, who was recently engaged in a war of the words with pop star, Rihanna, for statements regarding her nude attire.
Although we later learned that T-Boz and band mate Chilli’s words weren’t directed at the singer (Read HERE), nor were they to any other singer in particularly, it didn’t stop Rih Rih from lashing out against the group (Read HERE) and have yet to apologize.
Chris Brown may be coming to a reality show near you. The singer is said to be in talks to document his road to getting his life and career back on track since spending 9 months in rehab and behind bars, after violating the terms of his probation stemming from his 2009 assault on ex Rihanna.
BET is gunning to air a Chris Brown reality show … and they’ve already held focus groups to find out if viewers will flock to their sets or stay away.
Multiple sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ … BET has made it clear to several production companies … the network would absolutely air a Chris Brown reality series, chronicling his life after jail.
After seven years since joining the panel, Sherri Shepherd has decided to leave ABC daytime talk show, The View.
“It’s been seven wonderful years on The View and after careful consideration it is time for me to move on,” Shepherd said Thursday in a statement to Deadline.
“I am extremely grateful to Barbara Walters and Bill Geddie for giving me the opportunity. I look forward to the business opportunities that lay ahead for me and I am incredibly grateful to my View family and my fans for supporting me on this journey.”
