At just 22 years old Taylor Swift was named Billboard’s ‘Women of the Year’ Sunday night during their annual award ceremony.
The award acknowledged her many musical achievements; three multi-platinum selling albums and sold out tours, as well as her philanthropic work.
Upon accepting her award Taylor says, “The first time I ever saw my song on the Billboard charts, I was 16 and I was on a radio tour … in a rental car, going to three or four different stations a day and homeschooling in the back seat,” Taylor called upon accepting the award. “That seems like forever ago, thanks to so many people — but mostly my family, everyone who’s helped me get here and the fans. I just love you so much! I’m so humbled and honored.”
I think she’s deserving don’t you? Congrats Taylor!

Alicia Keys looks beautiful in her slim fitting all black dress.

Facebook Founder/CEO Mark Zuckerberg has one more reason to be happy. He has married his long time girlfriend Priscilla Chan.
One day after Zuckerberg took his company, Facebook, public, the couple tied the know at his Palo Alto, California home on Saturday. He even updated his Facebook relationship status from “In A Relationship” to “Married” following the nuptials.
The intimate ceremony was orchestrated in front of a group of less than 100 guests. They’d led attendees to believe they were coming over for a party celebrating Chan’s graduation from USCF medical school. They had been planning the nuptials these last four months.
Chan and Zuckerberg met nine years ago as students at Harvard University. Congratulations!
Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb has passed away at the age of 62 after a long battle with colon cancer.
On Sunday Gibb’s family announced he had passed following his long battle with the disease and intestinal surgery.
Gibb had been hospitalized for intestinal problems several times in the last two years following his cancer diagnosis. The disease eventually spread from his colon to his liver, and in the days leading up to his death he contracted pneumonia and fell into a coma.
He is survived by his wife, Dwina Murphy, sons Spencer and Robin-John, his daughters, Melissa and Snow.
The Gibb family would like their privacy respected at this time.
Will Smith was over in Moscow promoting his ‘Men In Black 3′ movie when a reporter tried to kiss him on the mouth. No seriously! The already awkward moment turned even weirdo when Smith, typical very friendly, smacked him across the face. Check it out.
Even while disrespected Smith handled the situation quite well. Like he said, “He’s lucky I didn’t sucka punch him.”
Well isn’t this a pleasant surprise. Lil’ Kim took a break from beefing with Nicki Minaj long enough to unite to an all star roundup of female emcees. She brought out rappers Eve and Missy Elliot during her ‘Return of the Queen’ Bronx, NY concert at The Paradise Theater.
Back in April I posted an article about a Teyana Taylororiginal custom made set that we thought she looked absolutely fab in. We loved the look so much we just had to find the designer! Meet Chinyere Ibekwe. She’s a young 23 year old native of Los Angeles, California.
She took some time out to speak with the Cotten Kandi blog revealing a bit more about who she is, her future as a designer, working with Teyana and what else she may have in store. Here’s what she had to say.
Who Are You? Give Some Background About Yourself
My name is Chinyere Princess Christy Ibekwe. People either call me Rey or chichi. Chinyere means “Gods Gift” but I like to be call “Chi” [for short].
I was born and raised in LA but my parents are originally from Nigeria. They came here [The United States] when they were teenagers to live a better life. They both graduated from college, my father, Austin Ibekwe , from the University of Southern California and my mother, Agatha Ibekwe, from California State University (LA). My mother now owns her own home health agency while my father is an accountant for the county.
I’m the third of 4 children. An interesting fact about me and all my siblings is that we’re all over 6 feet tall. It allowed us to be athletic and play basketball. We all received full scholarships to play basketball in college.
I’m not sure what’s going on with BET but apparently everyone’s on the chopping block. Terrence J and Rocsi Diaz will no longer host the long running video countdown show, ’106 & Park’. Although no official announcement has been made, some recent reports suggest the duo will be leaving at the end of the current season.
Terrence and Rocsi are said to be venturing off in more television and film roles. While they may be grateful to have been apart of the BET family they’d like to take advantage of the opportunities that lay ahead.
