Rapper LL Cool J and country singer Brad Paisley have stirred up some controversy with new single “Accidental Racist”.
Following the song’s release on Monday it immediately caught flack for its lyrics about race. The two musician do agree that the national debate sparked by their song is exactly what they wanted to happen.
“Accidental Racist”, featured on Paisley’s latest album, “Wheelhouse”, discusses how African Americans that grew up like LL Cool J, who grew up in New York City, view Southerners, like Paisley, a native of West Virginia, and vice versa.
The duo visited ‘Good Morning America’ Wednesday morning to shed some light on the song and the backlash its caused.
“I’m not really sure we’re going to find any answers but it was the idea that we were asking the question,” Paisley stated during his interview on “Good Morning America.”
