The ladies have been preparing for the past few months to bring ‘Crazy, Sexy, Cool: The TLC Story’ movie biopic to life. The photo depicts the group’s 1992 single “Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg” single cover featured on debut album, “Ooooooohhh… On the TLC Tip”
KeKe Palmer was just announced as the actress to land the role of Lozanda “Chilli” Thomas in the upcoming biopic of 90′s R&B group, TLC.
While we did not hear a response from Lil’ Mama, about the backlash, KeKe Palmer isn’t taking the criticism all too well. Frankly, she isn’t here for all you naysayers. Here’s what Ms. Palmer had to say.
“People kill me, I don’t remember Angela Bassett looking ANYTHING like Tina Turner. And she RIPPED that role,” Palmer tweeted.
“People need to realize hat movies aren’t casted by people looking like who they’re playing. They’re casted by who can do the role.”
It’s just been announced that rapper Lil Mama will play the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes in R&B group TLC‘s upcoming biopic. The news was confirmed by one of Hip Hop’s female pioneers MC Lyte.
“I don’t know if I’m supposed to say, but I will,” says Lyte at a pre-Grammy party over the weekend. “She just got the role of Left Eye in TLC’s new movie…”
Prior to making the announcement Lyte revealed she would mentor the young rapper saying, “I’m going to put my concentration and focus on helping a sister who is talented, smart, witty who just had her chances cut too short and that is Lil Mama because she is a talented young woman. I want to see her do some beautiful things.”
She also talks about recording with Mama and working on a sisters record with other legendary female Hip Hop artists.
Is it us or is a Lil Mama single long over due? It seems the rapper has been in the news as of late for controversy surrounding her name rather than her music. Although the single is said to inspired by one of Lil’ Mama’s idols, MC Lyte, the video gives us a more Nicki Minaj inspired vibe. You be the judge, here’s “Strawberry”.
Yesterday Alicia Keys visited ‘The Today Show’ to discuss the VMA’s, Lil’ Mama, Jay Z and her new record. Even in controversy she’s always so classy. Gotta love Alicia.
Via his blog, kanyeuniversecity.com/blog/, Kanye issued an apology. Here’s what he had to say:
“They told me to stand by the side of the stage, and I didn’t really know what was going to go down,” she said. “But I thought it was so wonderful and gracious of her to do what she’s always done. She’s always been a great person before anything else. Before the talented artist, the superstar, she’s always been a great person and I just, I thought I couldn’t love Beyonce more tonight, than tonight.”
Here’s Jay Z and Alicia Keys performing “Empire State Of Mind” when Lil’ Mama made her way up to the stage towards the end! That was another WTF moment of many last night.
The infamous prank that caused Eminem to walk out the show. Bruno (Sasha Baron Cohen) landed but first in Em’s face. Was he in on the joke or not? You decide.
