Kyla Pratt Stops By The Wendy Show, Talks About Her Daughter & Boyfriend

Kyla Pratt, is making her promotional rounds. She stopped by The Wendy Show today and, once again, addressed rumors about keeping her pregnancy out of the public eye and more about her daughter’s father.

On Keeping Her Pregnancy A Secret
“I wasn’t trying to keep it a secret, I just decided I didn’t wanna announce anything. I have a lot of girlfriends in the industry who have had babies already and they deal with such negativity, whether, they were married or not married or with the guy and I just didn’t want to deal with that. And I feel like being pregnant is suppose to be the happiest time in your life.

I wasn’t hiding anything. I went to Disney Land, 8 months pregnant…I had a huge baby shower with like 200 hundred people. I was doing everything huge. It’s just that I asked people to respect my privacy and not post pictures and I’d tell the public when I felt like it. It’s my personal life [laughs].”

On Her Daughter’s Father
“He was a competitive dancer at one time but he was not a stripper. He was not butt naked and running around doing stuff like that but, of course, you know he would take his shirt off, he got a nice body, that’s my man, that’s how we do this, you know what I’m saying.

His real name is Danny. We call him KP. But he does go by Compton because he does music and he’s a tattoo artist. So ya’ll wanna know more about him, go to iamcompton.com, so go ahead check my baby out [laughs].”

Actress Kyla Pratt, back on the scene with her new role in BET’s sitcom ‘Let’s Stay Together’, revealed back in November that not only was she a mother, but that her daughter was now a beautiful 1 year old little girl she named Lyric.

Soon after her announcement, the actress received criticism and backlash for being an unwed mother and even multiple rumors began to spread of who had fathered her child. Pratt was so fed up with the negative press that she decided to address it with her own written statement to the press.

In her recent sit down with VIBE Vixen she’s taking things one step farther and is now discussing motherhood, her plans for the future with her rapper boyfriend, her new television role and the many criticism she has faced since revealing she’s a mother.

How did you get added on to the cast of Let’s Stay Together?
Some of the writers of Let’s Stay Together use to work on One on One with me. One of them hit me up on Facebook and asked me if I would be interested, and of course, I was interested. I didn’t second guess it. It was people I’ve worked with before and trust.

Tell us about your character.
My character Crystal is very young; she’s a college student. I like to call her the broke college student who likes to use her cousins as much as she can, whether it’s for laundry or a place to stay. She’s crazy and loves to have fun. Not really serious about life at the moment, but she’s trying to stay in school and live out her dreams of being a film director.

How have you evolved since you became a mother?
Girl, [laughs] no sleep, but [my baby] is my world! That’s all I think about everyday, and everything I do is just for her. I want to make sure she’s good in her future. I’m enjoying every minute of it!

Kyla Pratt is fed up with the rumors and negative feedback she’s received after recently revealing she now has a 1 year old daughter.

The actress decided to vent her frustration on her tumblr blog and, believe me, it was a mouth full. Before she wrote the blog, however, she tweeted a few messages to her fans. She tweeted,

“I remember when i saw a picture of Tisha Campbell-Martin, Jennifer Freeman, & Lauren London pregnant & everyone had something negative2 say. I went crazy on twitter!!!! All beautiful Black women bringing a life into this world and all people know how to do is talk sh*t.

Acting is my job (that i love), but its not my life. This Little girl is. Wasnt going to not become a mom becuz of what people will “think” about me. #sorry 2strong for that.

Im not mad or upset or angry. I knew this would happen. Always prepared ;)

In her blog she then writes,

IAM Setting the record straight

Woke up this morning to some bullsh*t so i decided to blog about it.

I announced a little over a month ago that i have a one year old daughter named Lyric. Ever since then there has been mostly negativity thrown our way. This is something that i knew would happen so THAT is why i delayed the process of sharing my happiness with this lovely world. I did not HIDE. I was out doing everything i normally do. Please believe i was not in the house looking at the wall waiting for time to pass. Jus because i didn’t publicize my pregnancy or try to make money off of it doesnt mean i am not proud of my daughter or her Father.
