Former ‘Danity Kane’ and ‘Dirty Money’ artist Dawn Richard has been busy pursuing her solo career, but lately she’s been looking a bit different.
I couldn’t put my finger on it but I thought she may have gotten a nose job, or lightened her skin but then rescinded to thinking, ‘maybe it’s just the makeup’, and left it alone. After all, Dawn has spoken out publicly about the hardships of being a ‘brown girl’ in an industry where being of fairer skin, long hair and a bodacious body will get you far.
Well, some fans and foes weren’t going to leave it alone. They’ve, pretty much, called Dawn out on bleaching her skin and trying to look lighter to enhance her music career.
Dawn Richard shows no signs of slowing down as a solo artist. Since disbanding from ‘Dirty Money’ Richard has more than shown that she’s fully capable of carrying the torch solo. The New Orleans native is back with yet another single, “Bum Bum”. The Druski written and produced up-tempo single is an unreleased track from Richard’s previous and second solo album, ‘Goldenheart’.
Although the singer is currently working on follow-up, ‘Blackheart’, she wanted to share the record with her fans. Check it out below.
I’m betting my money on Dawn Richard. She’s back with new single “On A String”. The former “Danity Kane” and “Dirty Money” member has impressed us greatly with her “Armor On” EP and now she’s gearing up for forthcoming album “GoldenHeart”, set for a January 2013 release. If her EP is any indication of what she has in store Dawn will be a major force in music. Check out her new single below.
This video is everything right now! Dawn Richard is showing us just what an artist is suppose to be. Not only can she sing, dance, writes her own singles and doing it all with no label, she does it oh so well! Check out “Automatic”. Dope!
Singer/songwriter Dawn Richard recently sat down with PYNK magazine to discuss her growing solo music career, her personal style, who are her crushes, keeping in touch with her former band-mates and so much more. Here’s what Dawn had to say.
*Where do you see your music career going in the next 5 years? *
“I would hope that my music reaches the masses without losing anyone in the process. I think musically when people listen to this RnB and watch the dance that goes along with it the movements are a little bit more moving, than when people simply listen to other RnB. I hope that the word innovative would be used a lot. I hope that after people have seen the same thing over and over again, their eyes will be open to something different. I am a storyteller, and I would love to be telling who I am while continuing to push the envelope through my music.”
*What has been one of the most memorial moments in the your music career? *
“There are so many moments, I have had an amazing timeline of events. I think the time when I made the group Dainty Kane, as well as the time I gotto work with Legend Grace Jones.”
*How would you describe your personal style? *
“I am a huge fan of pushing the envelope, I am a hippy at heart. I enjoy mixing different prints and patterns together.”
Dawn Richard stopped by ‘The Breakfast Club’ recently sharing a bit of news we weren’t yet aware of. She’s now an independent artist after leaving ‘Diddy Dirty Money’ and Bad Boy label, she’s also now single after ending her 5 year relationship with fellow singer and former label mate, Que Mosely, her latest EP, ‘Amor One’, new music and all the success she’s garnered as an independent artist, and more.
Dawn Richard of Diddy Dirty Money is working hard on that solo album and has just released the visual for new single “S.M.F.U” (Save Me From You). She premiered the video on BET’s 106 & Park last night and the song is actually pretty good. Check it out.
I really like Dawn, hope her solo efforts is a successful one. What are your thoughts?
Quanell Mosley, formerly of Day 26, wasn’t kidding when he decided to depart from his group and pursue a solo career. Since leaving the group back in 2009 (or his removal depending on who you may ask), the singer has been credited for various song writing efforts and singing background to his girlfriend, Dawn Richard‘s, current group ‘Dirty Money’. Que, now going by Anthony Q (not sure where the Anthony comes from) has been putting in a lot of work in the studio these last couple years to bring forth his solo efforts. It seems now his vision is coming to fruition.
With that said, here is Anthony Q’s newest single and video, “Medicine”.
Dawn Richard of Diddy Dirty Money has and former girl group Danity Kane has spread her wings and decided to fly. Her latest project and mixtape ‘#ATellTaleHeart’ was officialy released on I-Tunes this past Monday and Ms. Dawn may have something special on her hands here.
