Brad Pitt has released an official statement regarding his thoughts on partner, Angelina Jolie‘s decision to get a preventative double mastectomy.
Of her decision Pitt says, “Having witnessed this decision firsthand, I find Angie’s choice, as well as many others like her, absolutely heroic,” Pitt said in his statement.
“I thank our medical team for their care and focus,” he continued.
Angelina Jolie is coming forward with the announcement she has had a double mastectomy.
After watching her mom die as a result of breast cancer at the age of 56, the actress made the decision to take preventative measures in not getting the disease. In an article for the New York Times she writes about her experience and why opting to have the procedure done back in February.
Jolie writes (upon discovering she had the BRCA1 gene), “My doctors estimated that I had an 87 percent risk of breast cancer and a 50 percent risk of ovarian cancer…Once I knew that this was my reality, I decided to be proactive and to minimize the risk as much I could. I made a decision to have a preventive double mastectomy.”
CNN would like to confirm Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt‘s engagement. Although no other confirmation is being reported we’ll have to take the news source word for now.
The site reports, “Angelina Jolie, 36, and Brad Pitt, 48, a Hollywood megastar couple since 2005, are engaged, Pitt’s representative said Friday.
“Yes, it’s confirmed. It is a promise for the future, and their kids are very happy. There’s no date set at this time. Brad designed the ring,” the representative, Cynthia Pett-Dante, told CNN.
The couple of 7 years and 6 children, have long insisted that they wouldn’t marry until laws were changed granting the rights to gay men and women to marry.
In the latest issue of PARADE magazine, Brad Pitt is finally opening up about Angie, his kids and “pretending”, as he puts it, while married [to Jennifer Aniston].
During a Q&A, the 47-year-old actor stated,
On being a “satisfied man”
“I put much more emphasis on being a satisfied man. I’m satisfied with making true choices and finding the woman I love, Angie, and building a family that I love so much. A family is a risky venture, because the greater the love, the greater the loss. … That’s the trade-off. But I’ll take it all.”It wasn’t always that way
“I spent the ‘90s trying to hide out, trying to duck the full celebrity cacophony. I started to get sick of myself sitting on a couch, holding a joint, hiding out. It started feeling pathetic. It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn’t living an interesting life myself. I think that my marriage [to actress Jennifer Aniston] had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn’t.”
In a recent interview with Parade magazine, while promoting current film “Inglourious Basterds”, Brad Pitt got pretty candid talking about his early days as a bachelor, waiting to have children, and not getting married to “soul mate” and fellow actor Angelina Jolie.
During the candid interview, Pitt showed off a secret area in one of his homes which he said “is a great place for sex” and reflected on his early days in Hollywood, which included superstardom and some marijuana.
On his early days in Hollywood
“I liked to smoke a bit of grass at the time, and I became very sheltered,” Pitt told Parade. “Then I got bored. I was turning into a damn doughnut, really.”On his family with Jolie
“This family is full of life,” Pitt said. “There are laughs, aggravations, irritations, but at the end of the day, it’s fun. When life is really good, it’s messy.”Pitt said his life is very different now that he is a dad.
“When I go down a path, I take it to the end,” he said. “Then I take another one. I took the path of not having kids, now it’s time for family. Children are a dominant value in my life now, and they weren’t before.”
On finding his soul mate
He’s found a “soul mate” in Jolie, Pitt said, but he insisted he meant what he has said in the past about not marrying her.
“When someone asked me why Angie and I don’t get married, I replied, ‘Maybe we’ll get married when it’s legal for everyone else,’ ” he said. “I stand by that, although I took a lot of flak for saying it, hate mail from religious groups. I believe everyone should have the same rights.”
On being a role model
Pitt told Parade he takes exception to anyone trying to dictate how someone should live and who they should love.
“Just the other night, I heard this TV reverend say that Angie and I were setting a bad example because we were living out of wedlock, and people should not be duped by us,” Pitt told the magazine. “It made me laugh.
“What damn right does anyone have to tell someone else how to live if they’re not hurting anyone? How many times do you think real love comes to someone in a lifetime? If you’re lucky, maybe two or three.”
People should be able to be happy, Pitt said, and that includes his children.
“Would it bother me if a child of mine turns out to be gay? No, not one bit,” he said. “Listen, I want my kids to live the lives they want to live. I want them to be fulfilled. I hope I teach my kids to be who they really are.

Tiger Woods introduced his new born son, Charlie Axel Woods, to the world in the new issue of GOLF magazine. “Both Charlie and Elin are doing great, and we want to thank everyone for their sincere best wishes and kind thoughts,” Woods blogged on his website. The 10 day old newbie arrived on Feb. 8th, he is Tiger and wife, Elin Nordegren, second child and first son together. They’re daughter, Sam, is 20 months old. Congrats to the Woods family.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie with 6 month old twins son, Knox Léon and daughter, Vivienne Marcheline as well as Maddox, Pax, and Zahara arrive at Narita International Airport in Chiba, Japan.
After a scheduled C-Section Saturday morning Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline arrived weighing in at 5.03 lbs and 5 lbs each. Reports from Nice Lenval Hospital, the hospital Angelina and the twins are located, confirms the mother and the babies are to remain in the hospital for at least a week to guarantee a healthy recovery.
Under the care of Doctor Michel Sussmann it is believed the twins will remained hospitalized to ensure weight gain in the ciming weeks. After a press Conerence Sunday afternoon the doctor confirmed the birth and later stated, “The babies are fine. The babies are with the mother and father and they are fine.”
