Tragedy struck early Sunday morning at San Jose’s Fiesta night club while singer Chris Brown was in attendance for a birthday celebration. In fact, the singer was asked to host and perform during the night’s festivities.
Things took a wrong turn, however, when gun shots erupted not long after the singer took to the stage to perform hit single “Loyal.”
According to eyewitnesses, while the singer attended to the crowd a fight broke out in the club followed by shots being fired.
Brown’s security immediately rushed the singer off the stage and the placed erupted in chaos. Attendees then ran for cover in an attempt to exit the club.
We now know that five people were shot as an aftermath to the early morning shooting.

According to San Jose police, gunfire was reported about 1:20 a.m. near the Fiesta nightclub on Monterey Road near Rancho Drive and across the street from the West Wind Capitol Drive-In. Officers arrived to find four people who suffered gunshot wounds, and they were rushed to the hospital. A short time later, another shooting victim walked into a local hospital
The exact conditions of the victims were not immediately available, but police said all of the victims are expected to survive.
Police said several people were detained in the aftermath of the shooting. They did not immediately release additional details.
According to promotional materials and event attendees, Brown was at the nightclub as part of a VIP birthday event with celebrants including the singer’s manager. Local KMEL DJ’s Big Von and Black Marc were advertised as providing music for the event.
