If you didn’t already know, former ‘America’s Next Top Model’ finalist turn actress, Yaya Dacosta, has been pick to play the late and legendary singer, Whitney Houston, in upcoming Lifetime biopic.
In a glimpse of Dacosta’s transformation as Houston, she re-creates the singer’s 1987 album cover (above).
Of posing for the image Dacosta notes that her modeling background became useful. “I just looked at the picture and did the pose!” she says.
Unfortunately not all are all too thrilled about the image and the former model playing the role.
Although we think producers of the film have done a pretty good job with the image, some fans are still not convinced that Dacosta is the right person to play the late singer. And, well, we have to partially agree.
It’s been proven that an actor or actress does not have to entirely resemble the artist they portray but much debate comes from Dacosta not having “enough” acting experience.
But that may not be true. Since her “ANTM” days back in 2003, Dacosta has been in at least twenty featured films and television shows. That’s quite an accomplishment wouldn’t you agree?
What are your thoughts CK readers, is Yaya a great choice to play the role?
