There’s one thing Olivia Pope can’t fix, and, that’s save Columbus Short‘s role on ‘Scandal.’ The actor whose played the role of Harrison Wright for the past three seasons has just confirmed news that he’s been fired from the popular ABC drama.
Following news of a domestic violence dispute with his wife of eight years Tanee McCall, a club brawl where he beat up and guy and a growing list of bizarre behavior, the show’s creator and ABC have decided to let Short go.
Rumors that the actor was axed from the show emerged following the show’s season three finale last week. Die hard ‘Scandal’ fans were left with a cliff hanger on whether Harrison survived an encounter with the head of B613, Poppa Pope.
Well now, we can confirm those rumors were true.
It was Short who confirmed the news by releasing an official statement earlier this week. The statement reads, “At this time I must confirm my exit from a show I’ve called home for 3 years, with what is the most talented ensemble in television today.”
“Everything must come to an end and unfortunately the time has come for Harrison Wright to exit the canvas, he continued. I wish nothing but the best for Shonda, Kerry and the rest of the cast…”
The actress’ wife has also filed divorce papers for a third time. According to reports, Short allegedly put a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her and himself. She now has a restraining order out against the actor after his court appointed order to leave the home they share together.
Although we have no actual proof on whether the accusations against Short is true, this is not the first time the actor has been accused of domestic violence.
The couple have one child together, a young daughter. We will keep you all posted.
