How to Start the New Year with a New Look (Hair Tips)

Okay, so it is a new year and you want to start it off with a bang. Most start the New Year’s off with joining the gym as we set off to create a new look for ourselves. But you can also create this new look with a new hairstyle. Here are a few tips that will give you an instant new look in a shorter amount of time.

1. Chop it off!

So you’ve been growing your hair for years and you’ve never thought about cutting it, well what are you waiting for? Nothing says new look like a nice haircut. If you are a little shy when it comes to short hair then take baby steps. Trim a little here and there or possibly add a few layers to it. If you want a more drastic look, close your eyes and ask the hairdresser to cut it all off! A Rihanna or even Beyonce short crop (both photoed above) would look very edgy and can also be made to look classy and elegant.

2. Add color!

If you have always had the same dark brown or black hair, it is definitely time to spruce it up. Adding color to ones hair instantly gives you a new look. For a tone down look, you can try highlights just so you have that hint of color throughout your hair. But for a drastic change, the lighter the better! Now, keep in mind skin tone when you are thinking of color. For lighter skin tones, you can get away with just about any color, but for darker skin tones try not to go too light.

3. Add some length!

If you are the opposite and have always been the one to cut your hair the second it grows, try to add in some length by getting a sew in. You don’t have to get too crazy and have locks flowing down your back, but adding length to your hair will give your face a totally different definition. You will be able to come up with more styles as well.

The good thing about hair is that you can always experiment with it as you go along. If you decide you don’t like a hair cut, then you can add tracks to make yourself feel more comfortable. Or if you don’t like the tracks, then you can just take them out. When it comes to hair, there is no right or wrong way of doing things since it comes in so many different types. Just try different things out and go with what works best for you. And remember, it is a new year and this is a new you. Don’t stick with the look that you’ve always gone for. Take risks and have fun!
