As October begins, we are reminded of a very serious issue that unfortunately affects many women, and some men: domestic violence. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, an estimated 1.3 million women are victims of physical assault by an intimate partner each year.
To bring more awareness to the issue, Brooklyn’s domestic violence organization ‘Face My Abuse’ is holding their second annual Face My Abuse Domestic Violence Walk’ at Wingate Park in Brooklyn tomorrow, October 5th at 11:30 AM. Founder Jacqueline Rowe plans to garner attention to domestic violent acts that are happening in the community. Face My Abuse hopes to guide victims and survivors towards a better future.
The event will consist of an early breakfast, a ‘Letting Go’ ceremony and the walk. For more information on the ‘Face My Abuse’ walk and cause, click here.
