Kanye’s Mad His Album Cover Got Banned!

Kanye West

Rapper Kanye West took to his twitter profile to express his feelings on the ban on his album cover by his record label.

He wrote, “Yoooo they banned my album cover!!!!! Ima tweet it in a few…

Banned in the USA!!! They don’t want me chilling on the couch with my phoenix! http://twitpic.com/2ykxjk.

In the 70s album covers had actual nudity… It’s so funny that people forget that… Everything has been so commercialized now”.

I wanna sell albums but not at the expense of my true creativity.

So Nirvana can have a naked human being on they cover but I can’t have a PAINTING of a monster with no arms and a polka dot tail and wings.

It’s not unusual for an artist to vent their frustration when their art is questioned or controlled by record execs.
Well, that’s until Kanye revealed the actual album cover! Twitter went mad wondering what the hell he was thinking! Seriously Kanye?!

The cover was in tended for his release of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album due in the US on November 22nd.

  • I love Kanye… and yeah, the cover is a bit… out there. But have you seen artists these days? Some things that are in galleries? I mean, there’s been an exhibition of two real people having sex. His cover is nothing comparing to that. It’s art (yes, commercial, but still art), I still think he should be allowed to express himself anyway he wants (as long as he’s not hurting anybody of course). Cheers.

  • I admit I don’t know much about art and exhibits but I don’t think the album cover will appeal to most people.
Most Americans are too conservative. Especially in an industry like the music industry. It’s heavily controlled to appeal to the masses. Sex sells but abstract art that’s potentially controversial not so much.

  • I agree. This cover isn’t very much main stream, and might rub people the wrong way. But why conform?
