The North Carolina rapper takes the top spot from Taylor Swift’s 1989 by selling 371,000 copies in his first week. 2014 Forest Hills Drive marks Cole’s biggest opening week and the highest-selling debut of any hip-hop album in 2014, beating Rick Ross’ Mastermind (179,000).

Rapper Kanye West, not one to bite his tongue, is the latest rapper to speak out in support of efforts to seek justice amidst the decision that a New York City police officer will not face charges for choking unarmed Staten Island resident Eric Garner, an act that resulted in his death, and, the decision to not indict Ferguson County officer Darren Wilson for shooting unarmed teen Michael Brown this past summer.
These two incidences are the latest in a string of cases that have resulted in much of the same — an unarmed black man losing his life at the hand of law enforcement.
Over the weekend, thousands of citizens across the country, including Washington D.C and New York City rallied in hopes of getting the federal government involved in taking a further look into these cases.
To our surprise, the overwhelming outcry of injustice has echoed among neighborhoods far and near across the country. In fact, it brought out more than half a million marchers this past weekend.
Over the weekend, music producer Swizz Beatz, threw his wife and singer, Alicia Keys, a baby shower in preparation for the arrival of their second child.

This isn’t the sort of news we like to report, especially around the holidays, but co-founder of natural hair care line, Miss Jessie’s, has died in an apparent suicide. Titi Branch, 45, one-half of the popular beauty brand, died on Dec. 4, 2014 from what appears to be the result of asphyxia.
The news was confirmed by a family friend, over the weekend, and was first reported by NV magazine.
Titi Branch (photoed on the left), was the co-founder of Miss Jessie’s a leading company in the natural hair care industry. She created their signature Miss Jessie’s Curly Pudding® for the Brooklyn hair salon, Curve, she ran with her sister Miko. As sales for the product skyrocketed the sisters decided to move the salon to the Bedford Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn where it was renamed after their family matriarch — their no nonsense grandmother Miss Jessie. With the renaming of the salon in 2005 came the additions of Curly Meringue®, Curly Buttercreme® and later Baby Buttercreme®. Branch was not a chemist but a creative spirit who used her kitchen as her laboratory to create these products.
